Built in 1743 by one of the city’s most famous architects, John Wood the Elder, Pratt’s Hotel has been part of Bath’s heritage for more than two centuries. The building itself has many interesting features, with a variety of character rooms, a classic Georgian restaurant and lounges with open fireplaces, and a bowed landing on the staircase, designed to enable ‘chairmen’ to carry clients back to their rooms in their sedan chairs after a treatment in the city’s famous spa baths.

Farnley Tower was built in 1870 for a Mr S Forstor, a prominent local architect, who built the unique house as his private residence using the finest materials and craftsmanship. The building was purchased as a dilapidated shell, but has now been extensively renovated under the owners' personal supervision in order to incorporate all the intricate detail of the Victorian era while providing all the facilities expected of a modern city centre hotel.

Farnley Tower is sited in an elevated position providing stunning views over Durham Cathedral and Castle, as well as the surrounding Durham countryside. It also has its own free car park and gardens. Dine in style in the renowned award winning restaurant and bar, The Gourmet Spot.

The Edward The Edward

The ‘Edward’ is a 2* hotel and is approximately 500 metre stroll from Northgate St, the start of the city centre.

The garden is secluded, with some mature shrubs and many roses. The conifer hedge provides a great background for photos. There is a suprising amount of birdlife. Watch out for the sparrow hawks that nest at the hospital. Our bar is often used for a quiet drink and chat before going out for the evening or for a relaxing nightcap. On balmy summer's mornings we can serve breakfast on the patio.

The Lounge retains some original features, such as a fireplace and Victorian parquet flooring. A leather Chesterfield and king chairs provide comfort and on those chilly winter nights the log burner is real treat. There is also a 44" TV. All rooms have wireless internet access, digital freeview channels, en-suite bathrooms, tea / coffee making facilities and direct dial telephone.
