A spa and pamper break expert has visited a London facility to indulge in a treatment using milled seaweed.
Writing for the London Evening Standard, Katie Law went to the Jumeriah Carlton Tower where she opted for a body mask and wrap using seaweed, followed by a facial and moisturising massage.
After having her skin exfoliated to get rid of any dead cells and stimulate circulation, the seaweed, which comes from the shores of Sligo, is used to detoxify and rejuvenate the body, with the moisturising massage, which contains more seaweed extract, used to give the skin a buffed glow.
"Warm seaweed - with the consistency of dark green vegetable porridge - is rubbed in all over the body. You are wrapped up in a muslin shroud, covered in an electrically heated duvet and given a head massage while your skin drinks in the minerals," she explained.
Visitors to the spa and pamper break complex can also indulge in a number of other treatments, including massages and aromatherapy.
